Poker is a known casino game in Russia, but such casino game is not popular in the said country. Nevertheless, there are some Russians who are interested in playing poker, and one of them is Kirill Gerasimov. As a matter of fact, it seems that Kirill Gerasimov is the only Russian who is recognized as a professional poker player in the whole wide world.

Born in Moscow, Russia on June 5, 1971, Kirill Gerasimov was an insurance salesman in his hometown before he eventually ventured into playing professional poker. Although he was already familiar of the game of poker when he was still working as an insurance agent, he did not thought of such casino game as a source of income until he read the poker book "Super System: A Course in Power Poker," by Doyle Brunson. Such book definitely had a major impact on his decision to try his luck in playing poker professionally.

According to Kirill Gerasimov, his key secret for playing poker successfully is his ability to read the behavior of his opponents. And in order to hone more poker skills, he also plays poker on the Internet. This professional poker player admits that it is difficult to read the behavior of opponents when playing online, and this is the main reason why he plays poker on the Internet. He is determined to hone skills other than reading his opponents' behaviors.

It was in 2001 when Kirill Gerasimov started to participate in poker events conducted in Europe. This professional poker player was also lucky enough to be supported by the Paradise Poker Web site in his participation in the World Poker Tour for the first time. The first ever World Poker Tour game that he participated in was the US$25,000 championship event during the season one of such tournament. The achievement of this professional poker player was stellar for a first-time player, having placed second and taking home an amount of US$506,625. The first place winner of the said event was professional poker player Alan Goehring.

Kirill Gerasimov has also experienced participating in an event conducted by the World Series of Poker in 2003. He joined the US$1,500 No Limit Hold'em Event in May of the said year wherein he reached the final table and placed sixth. The cash prize that he was able to take home totaled to US$24,000. Aside from such achievement, this professional poker player was lucky enough to have competed against such poker giants as Brad Daugherty, T. J. Cloutier, and Amir Vahedi.

In the World Series of Poker alone, Kirill Gerasimov has experienced money finishes seventeen times. In the World Poker Tour, this professional poker player was able to make money finished three times, while he was able to make money finished twice in his participation in the European Poker Tour.

Aside from playing professional poker, Kirill Gerasimov has also been coaching Russian Evgeny Kafeinikov to hone the latter's skills in playing poker. Kafeinikov used to be a Russian tennis player who now wants to become a professional gambler. Well, asking help from Kirill Gerasimov is definitely a decision that he won't regret.
